About its blade
If you notice some special "speckles" on the top layer of your ZK02 blade, please rest assured, these are not residual stains. The KATSU ZK02 blade is crafted from 17-layer ZDP-189 super steel and meticulously hand-finished by seasoned craftsmen. These "speckles" are a characteristic feature resulting from the hand-finishing process of this material.

Tips for Caring Folding Knives
- Keep your knife dry; that means the entire knife, not just the blade.
- Keep your knife clean, particularly moving parts and locking devices.
- Keep your knife oiled; especially pivot points and the blade. Oil at least twice a year.
- Keep your knife sharp; a sharp blade is safer than a dull one.
- Again, store your knife in a dry place.

KATSU ZK04, 17 Layers ZDP-1... C
I bought the ZK02 ZDP-189 pocket knife back in September, I use it on a daily basis on all sorts of different material, and am a Knife Sharpener in Washington State. The only thing I have done to the edge is strop it to keep it razor sharp, which holds it VERY well, thanks to the 67RWH.
The handle is very well made, comfortable, the clip holds really well to the pocket, and lots of open space in the handle to where it cant get gummed up with pocket fibers or whatever you may get stuck in other knives.
The blade opens and closes with a great feel, not too hard not too soft. It is on the thicker side of blades, I am used to more thin knives for specific uses, but the Katsu ZK02 is absolutely wonderful for most everything!
It is my favorite pocket knife I own, and have had come through my sharpening shop!

I must admit the blade opening lever took me a while to become accustomed with, the knife and blade in particular have been in a word, AMAZING. The precision in producing this blade is nothing short of outstanding. I LOVE the convex design and how it retains sharpness for an extraordinary time. A small amount of honing is all that’s required to keep this jewel in pristine condition. I own many knives at this point but find this one to be my absolute favorite. By the way, since the knife has a pocket clip, I find no reason to use the leather holder.
Just love, love, love it.
