Why should exceptional culinary prep be confined to an indoor kitchen?
The KATSU NOMAD (野饗) was born from a desire to bridge high-end Japanese cutlery with the rugged demands of outdoor exploration. Named after the modern wanderers who cook where the road ends, the NOMAD redefines camp cuisine. Whether you are slicing fresh wagyu under the stars, prepping a lakeside feast, or showcasing it as a centerpiece in your collection, the NOMAD delivers Michelin-level precision in a pocket-friendly, folding profile.
At the heart of the NOMAD is a wide-bellied cleaver/nakiri hybrid blade forged from Japan’s legendary ZDP-189 Super Steel by Hitachi Metals.
Vacuum Heat-Treated in Japan: Hardened to a staggering 65-67 HRC, the blade achieves an extraordinary level of edge retention that conventional kitchen and folding knives simply cannot touch.
Engineered Cleaver Profile: The tall blade face provides ample knuckle clearance over camp cutting boards and camp tables, while the slight forward curve allows for effortless push-cuts, delicate herb mincing, and powerful protein slicing.
Food Prep Ready: Stainless, wear-resistant, and ground razor-thin behind the edge for surgical food prep performance without wedging.
Culinary safety in unpredictable outdoor environments is paramount.
Ambidextrous Crossbar Lock: Engineered with hardened steel lock bars and smooth internal springs, providing rock-solid lockup that prevents accidental closure during heavy kitchen prep.
Fidget-Friendly Action: Paired with a smooth pivot system, the NOMAD deploys effortlessly with one hand via the elongated thumb hole and glides shut with a satisfying "drop-shut" feel.
Unlike standard folding pocket knives forced into kitchen duty, the NOMAD is designed with a canted, offset handle geometry:
Your knuckles never hit the cutting surface.
The ergonomic palm swell provides a locked-in grip during prolonged cutting sessions.
Deep pocket clip allows for discreet, comfortable everyday carry.
To honor the diversity of our collectors, the NOMAD’s frame is precision-milled from aerospace-grade TC4 Titanium, offered in 13 bespoke texture and finish combinations:
Tsuchime / Hammered Series: Traditional Japanese hammered indentation texture that refracts light like water ripples while naturally reducing food sticking. (Available in Ice Blue, Stonewash Grey, and Obsidian Black)
Frag Grid Pattern Series: High-traction, mechanical waffle milling for an aggressive tactical look and unbeatable grip in wet conditions. (Available in Cobalt Blue and Stealth Black)
Diamond Micro-Knurling Series: Fine, machine-checkered texture offering a refined, non-abrasive grip with a satin sheen. (Available in Aero Blue, Shadow Black, and Gunmetal Grey)
Carbon Fiber & Titanium Hybrid Series: Classic twill weave carbon fiber scales paired with precision-machined titanium bolsters for the ultimate gentleman-chef aesthetic. (Available with Bronze or Matte Black Bolsters)
Minimalist Plain Series: Clean, unadorned titanium showcasing subtle chamfering and pristine bead-blast or stonewashed finishes. (Available in Matte Black, Anodized Blue, and Raw Stonewash)
